I’ve had a 5v 2.0A usb charger plugged in for 3.5 hrs. The yellow charging light is still on. I think it should take ~2.5 hours to fully charge a 4400mAh battery with a 2.0A charger, so it should be done.
Does someone know if the board is getting any feedback from the battery on whether it’s accepting a charge or not? If there is not feedback…[Read more]

Thank you for the quick response, we are looking forward to the new modbus adater. Meanwhile, we made some quick changes to existing wingboards to power the Y-551A from the 12v available on the V1.1 rev B, with good results. One station is back to normal and the other should be as soon as the updated wingboard is installed. Thanks!

Thanks! So the yellow light was on because solar was charging, that’s good news. I assume that light is powered by the sun and not the battery.
Our next step will be to replace the battery if the full overnight charge doesn’t work. I’ll set those two DIP switches to off after I try to fully charge the battery.

They’re spring-loaded quick connect jacks. The wires go in the round holes not the rectangular ones. If you tug on them and they don’t come loose, then they should be connected properly. If they pop out, then you’ve just got to insert them further. I usually use my fingers, but you could also use something like needle-nose pliers to push one…[Read more]

A description of the operation of the LEDs on the Mayfly board can be found here: https://www.envirodiy.org/mayfly/hardware/details-and-specs/
For the one you asked about, it’s under part C:
C- Power LEDs and DIP switches: LEDs indicate board power (green) and USB power (orange). Useful for easily seeing if the board is on and if USB power is…[Read more]

Yesterday I attached a powerbank to the usb-c port for a little over two hours. Two yellow lights were on, one near the usb-c port and one lower down. I also installed a 10w solar panel. When I detached the powerbank, the yellow light near the usb-c port turned off but the other one stayed on. The station held voltage for two hours after that,…[Read more]

Any tricks on getting the new solar panel jacks plugged into the 2-pin adapter cable? They are really difficult to get in and I’m wondering if something was damaged while it was being plugged in due to the effort of getting the plug seated.

The Yosemitech Y-511A needs 12v to operate, so it won’t be happy if you modify the Mayfly jumper to set the 12v output to 9v. I’m not familiar with the operation of the modbus wing you’re using so I can’t comment on its operation, but we have a new modbus adapter board with it’s own beefy 12v-boost Grove adapter board that will be available in…[Read more]

Thank you very much for the answer. No, the rain gauge was deployed as it came out of the box. The sensor was leveled during installation, but the pole was not re-leveled since then and it was there for two or three years. I was asking Meter for help and asked them directly if there is some posibility to adjust it and they said “no” so I am bit…[Read more]

(I am placing this comment here rather than start a new topic because of similarities)
We have two stations that developed the same problem in August of 2023. One station is here: https://monitormywatershed.org/sites/GVWA%20107/
Both were V1.0 Mayfly with the LTE Bee, Hydros21 CTD and Yosemitech 511-a Turbidity sensors with the Modbus-Mafly-Wing…[Read more]
