Great to have the overview and direction. The creators of Open Hardware do need support in understanding what it takes to design, manufacture and sell the hardware, and also the community to do it smartly – open […]

Hi all,
I have one Yosemitech 511-A sensor that turns on the wiper for approximately 30 seconds with each measurement. The wiper doesn’t move from side to side either, it rotates in a continuous full circle for the full 30s.
Has anyone experienced this? Is this a hardware fault?

James,
Could you solder the jumper on the old version wing board that would otherwise be under the step up board? And get 12 volt from the new Mayfly? I am not qualified to make any recommendations, but since 12 volt is on the new Mayfly, you should be able to power the Y511 that way.

I’m also still very interested in these wings. The Pololu 12v Step-up voltage regulator has been discontinued and I’m struggling to build new wings.

Specifically, I wanted to make changes to the ThingSpeakPublisher.h and ThingSpeakPublish.CPP. I’ve made changes on my local files to work with ThingSpeak, but I haven’t had much luck getting it uploaded on the Mayfly. I believe it’s because my platformio.ini file isn’t correct. I tried following the example found on the ModularSensors, but it…[Read more]

I probed the traces to the vertical uSD socket and FTDI and determined that with the isolation capacitor and DTR, it’s not possible to update the bootloader from uSD/J7. Of course, Right there on the circuit diagram there is an ICSP port (H4), which is a set of pads for what I believe are 1.94mm pogo pins by the uSD slot. I wonder if there is a…[Read more]

I’ve been using a braided sleeving to protect against critter damage. https://www.cabletiesandmore.com/rodent-resistant-braided-sleeving?pid=3697
