New for June 2024: Includes 2 Grove cables (20cm long).
This is a 2-pack of custom 12-volt Boost Screw Terminal Grove Adapter boards, handy for connecting 12-volt sensors with bare wires to a Grove jack on an EnviroDIY Mayfly Data Logger. These adapters feature their own 12-volt boost circuitry to supply power to sensors that need more current than some older Mayfly Data Logger boards were capable of producing, so it should work on all versions of EnviroDIY boards. Most frequently used for SDI-12 sensors with bare wires on the end of the cable. Adapter features a 6-pin screw terminal block to connect the following pins: two power, two data, and two ground terminals).
There are 2 solder jumpers on the back of the board that can be used to customize it for different options:
JP1 is used to select between 12 volts output (default) or 9 volts output. The default option is “open” for 12 volts. Join the two solder pads together with solder to “close” the circuit and change the boost circuit to 9 volts output.
JP2 can used to connect the two data pins on the screw terminal (S1 and S2) to the same data pin of the Grove jack. Default setting is for screw terminal S1 to go to Grove pin D1, and screw terminal S2 goes to Grove pin D2. Change the solder jumper to the S1+S2=D2 position to connect both screw terminal pins to Grove jack pin D2. (This could be handy for using two 12-volt SDI-12 sensors at the same time since they can share the same data line as long as they each have unique SDI12 addresses.)
For best results, supply 3.3 volts to this adapter board by setting the header jumper on your Mayfly logger’s corresponding Grove jack to the 3.3v setting, and not 5v or 12v.
If you don’t need to generate 12v for high-draw accessories, you should use the regular Multipurpose 6-pin Screw Terminal Adapter.
