        How big a load can the 5-volt boost circuit handle?

          I see that the NCP1402 chip on the board is called a 200ma boost chip, so I assume that answers my question.

            You are correct, the 5v boost circuit on the Mayfly v0.4 has a max current supply of 200ma.
