Thought I would vent/post about my recent loss due to vandalism…here seemed to be a good place lol! I’m not mad, I’m just disappointed, wait no, I’m mad. Totally stripped for parts foam shredded , battery shredded (why?), all cables cut and then thrown in the river, thankfully one lone zip tie was still attached and kept it from swept away. Even…[Read more]

For anyone looking or an update on board availability: We sent a huge shipment of boards, kits, and adapters to Amazon almost 3 weeks ago, they received them a few days later but still have not processed them and added them back into their inventory. So we’re still waiting for that to happen, and the products will not show up on Amazon until…[Read more]

All of the data lines on the Mayfly run at 3.3 volts. The 2.2k resistors on the I2C lines are the pullup resistors that are required per the I2C design spec.

@zmalsberg, Christa Reeves was looking into this same type of issue (although simpler I think). She received assistance from Adam Griggs with River Network. You might contact Christa to see if she could assist or put you in touch with Adam.

Hi @vegansam! We have not scheduled another one of these workshops yet. This was a pilot of sorts (our first full monitoring station build workshop, as well as it being online). You can check the Stroud Center events page (https://stroudcenter.org/events/) from time to time to see about new workshops that we’re offering. If you want to ema…[Read more]

Is there a simple way to embed a monitoring station page’s body, or blocks of data? The organization I work for would like to display various site’s data on their program’s page.
The only way I know would be iframe embedding an entire monitormywatershed.org page, which isn’t officially supported; a leaner option would be most welcome. Please let…[Read more]

Hi Zach. Did you ever make any progress with this? We have partners that would like to be able to do the same thing.

In my latest thread, I decided to take the plunge and ordered the Xbee components necessary to test my customized telemetry publishing script on a spare Mayfly board, to not interfere with my group’s existing stations. Setting up a PHP server seems easy enough, just need to figure out how to handle the data it posts.

Thanks Zach!

Hi @richardkallen. Take a look at the Getting Started With the Mayfly Data Logger page for links to lots of resources, as well as links to Amazon for purchasing boards and kits. The items are currently out of stock on Amazon but we’ll be replenishing them so keep an eye on those Amazon pages.

When can I purchase a Mayfly Logger or is it something I could build?

Well compiler errors are never fun.
It looks like platformio didn’t complete the recursive dependency library installation correctly. That sometimes happens when it’s trying to install all the dependencies for ModularSensors at once.
You can check what libraries it did install in the .pio/libdeps/mayfly folder of your project. You might see s…[Read more]

I have made good progress with the learn EnviroDIY course. However, I have yet to succeed in compiling my .ini files when the modular sensors library is included under lib_deps. I skipped over this problem in some of the earlier lessons, such as the one using the DallasTemperature for temperature readings, by simply removing the modular se…[Read more]

@lemon, Jim Moore (@moore) with Great Marsh Institute has had beaver damage at two of his stations. He has come up with some ways to deal with it. Jim, would you mind responding to this thread with the same post that you recently made to the Delaware Basin Sensor Stations online group?
-
@w3asa, sorry Jim, had your user name wrong. Please see Jake’s (@lemon) post about protecting sensor wires.

Hi All,
I recently had a station where the sensor cables was completely severed right above the sensor. I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar. I’ve attached a few photos. I’m unsure if I’m dealing with vandalism or critter damage. Probably hard to tell from photos but if anyone has any relevant experience that might…[Read more]
