I’m not sure the best way to confirm that it’s totally bricked. If you power it up and still have all the pins reading 0 voltage, that’s probably a bad sign.

If XCTU doesn’t recognize the XBee3, that’s a pretty bad sign. How are you attaching your XBee to the computer? Do you have the USB-C XBee3 carrier? https://www.digi.com/products/models/xbib-cu-th That development board should make sure the bee is awake and work flawlessly with XCTU. Are you plugged into the USB-C port, not the side micro…[Read more]

Hi,
My name is James. I am working with a team in New Zealand to deploy Mayfly logging stations at numerous sites in my region.
I have been given an XBee – R410M modem and I am attempting to use it to send data to MMW. I have read through many of the existing forum posts about problems that people have experienced, and have modified the pins t…[Read more]

I had some of the same ~ then for new sensors on a specific site, I found by changing the name and removing the ‘-‘ in the name, the new sensor + started working for me.
Last week I added a new site, had a few problems, changed revisited the site/name slightly, and the I was able to add the…[Read more]

Well, I thought I would look deeper, but it’s pretty much Greek to me. The console has a lot that I won’t even pretend to understand, but the only differences I notice are in the attachments provided.
Definitely works with an incognito tab but not a standard tab (in Chrome – Firefox works fine for me).

Me too. The problem seemed to be specific to the one browser tab; when I opened a second (non-incognito) tab, it worked. Never had that happen before with MMW.
Thanks again,

For what it is worth. I was using Chrome.

Hi Robert,
Hmm looks like it is browser-related. I tried again just now and still didn’t work, but it does work in an Incognito window, so not sure what’s up. My colleague reported that it wasn’t working for him this morning, so I checked and it didn’t work for me at that time either.
Thanks for your reply,
Matt

Have you tried again since you posted this?
I just tried and it worked for me.

The “Add New Sensor” button does not respond, as of 08:55 MDT.
Is this something you can help with, @aufdenkampe?
Thanks!

We received a shipment of new boards from the manufacturer last week, and I’m working right now on testing and packaging everything, so we’ll be sending them to Amazon next week and they should be available on there shortly after that.

Kurt Rosenberger replied to the topic Bringing in serial data through UART on 20-Pin connector in the forum Mayfly Data Logger 4 years, 7 months ago
OK, I got it to work. The original sketch called for use of SoftwareSerial, and I replaced this with Serial1, and I realized that if I use Serial1, I don’t have to designate the pin numbers. Got the Airmar plugged into the correct pins (A7 and A8), and voila, data coming in! Now my next task is to figure out how to log the 1Hz data to a buffer of…[Read more]

Hi Shannon and Sara
Thank you for your replies – yes, I was not able to communicate with the Mayfly while I had data coming in, so I will switch to RX1/TX1. However, I’m still not clear on how to designate that in the initial setup in the sketch. It was fine with A6 and A7, but when I try to use A8/A9 or RX1/TX1 in the ‘static const’ declaration,…[Read more]

want2log started the topic How to get started for monitoring a very small lake in the forum Environmental Sensors 4 years, 7 months ago
I have a desire to assist with water quality monitoring of lakes and streams however I am a little stuck. Particularly small urban lakes.
I can use electronics and arduinos but I can’t seem to find the right information to help. What I am looking for is some information on inexpensive continuous monitoring systems that actually work.
I can find a…[Read more] -

I have a similar issue with the need to collect a water sample. We have an array of LEC water monitors in the various UNT’s into Great Marsh. One is downstream of the Turnpike service plaza and we are seeing the usual EC spikes correlated with the winter weather. However, a few are very large and don’t seem to be weather correlated hence the nee to get water sample since they are relatively short duration of a few hours or less.
I came across a low cost 12 Volt fountaintain pump that is perfect for pumping a water sample into a collection bottle. I built a 4 channel sampling system based on this pump with a Mayfly controlling four pumps. When the EC gets above a prescribed level the pump is activated for about 12 seconds, enough time to fill a 500cc sample bottle. The software in the mayfly resets when the EC drops below the set threshold and advances to the next port and runs on the next EC spike.
I attached a few pictures of the system I built. However I may have missed the weather events causing EC spikes.
If there is interest I can write up a blog with Mayfly code and construction details.
