Amazon isn’t replenishing our inventory as fast as usual, and we definitely prefer people contact us directly for orders over 10 boards or kits so that we can leave the Amazon inventory for people who only need to buy a few at a time. Email us at mayfly@envirodiy.org and we’ll see what we can do for you.

I’m not sure if this is the best place for me to ask or not, but my group wants to install about 36 dataloggers for one of our field research sites. I was just wondering what the lead time might be for something like that and if there might be a bulk order discount?

@srgdamiano I decided to go back to basics with ModularSensors – getting started but took a while to get PCsync to load. See attached screenshot with the corrections I had to make on the src_dir.
What is the function of the .pio folder and is it automatically populated when creating a new project? I had to manually load the .pio/mayfly folder f…[Read more]

No, I don’t think it could have been that long ago. I apologize if I led you down an un-necessary rabbit hole – it very well could have been that the update to the library had no bearing on how the logging_to_MMW worked at all. It seemed to correlate, but I definitely have nothing definitive to point to.

I waded back through my “git blame” and I don’t see any changes I’ve made to the request more recent than 8 months ago, where I removed one single space – from a double space in one of the headers. The next most recent change was 15 months ago. Is it possible your libraries were that old?

Sara – Do you have any insight/help on why I (mostly) have success why using the logging_to_MMW program, which uses the logDataAndPublish command, but not with the double_logger program using the code you provided? It seems to print out the same information in serial monitor of what it’s trying to do in both cases, but only returns on 201 on the…[Read more]

<p class=”user-nicename”>@srgdamiano – I wish I had looked prior to updating. It was at least July/August of 19, if not late February/early March of 19. I played around with using a back-dated version of the modular sensors library (by specifying the version in the .ini file) to see if I could figure it out.</p>

@stoltzfus-12osu-edu – that is very interesting to know. Do you happen to know exactly what version of the library you’d had prior to updating? If not, how long (at least roughly) would a the long time since you updated be? A month or two? A year? The specification for the post format hasn’t changed at all since it was first developed, but i…[Read more]

I noticed a similar issue regarding response codes when I first got my project uploading to MonMW.
Copy of my response on another forum thread:
Couple of questions:
I noticed several different response codes from the server – 20x(good) 40x(eror). Yet the data uploaded successfully in both cases. Are these related to signal strength or slow r…[Read more] -

Sara and Jim, thanks for the replies! Sara, knowing where you are now without formal coding training give me to hope to continue persevering!
Thanks for the code suggestions! The first – not creating new variables each time – worked great.
The second, for uploading to MMW at first did not work, saying modemWake and updateModemMetadata was not…[Read more]

I don’t understand all the details but I get your point and no need to worry about baud rate! I can change the pin connections on my proto-shields to the SDA and SCL pins, no problem. However calculating temperature from the RTD on the Sensorex probe and correcting the EC reading of the Atlas EZO will be a challenge for me.
I posted more d…[Read more]

Today I re-tested, using new hardware: Mayfly, modem, antenna, and LTEBee adapter. I’m still seeing the same problems: both Response Code 504 from MMW, as well as what I described above, where there was apparently(?) no attempt by the Mayfly to upload data after saving it to the SD card based on the messages it logged. I’ll attach the log file.…[Read more]

It’s very, very intentional that ModularSensors uses that Atlas sensors only in I2C mode and I do not intend to change this. When using Atlas sensors in UART mode, each sensor must have an individually dedicated UART port. The Mayfly has exactly two hardware (processor implemented) UART’s – one dedicated to the computer/programming and the o…[Read more]

It would be so much better if the website at least told you *why* and upload failed! All you get is a “failed” which could mean anything – the format was bad, the file was too big, there was an internet blip, who knows. The only way right now to even get an inking as to why it fails is to turn on “developer tools” (F12 in Firefox, I think also i…[Read more]

Also, just so you understand, ModularSensors isn’t powerful enough to “stash” recent data and save it for later. So when you’re in production and only connecting once an hour, the data being sent on the hour will only be for that one point. If for some reason there’s something wrong with the cellular connection in that moment it is supposed to s…[Read more]

@w3asa – I don’t have formal training in computer science or even in electrical engineering. I have one bachelor’s level degree – in chemistry.
@stoltzfus-12osu-edu – two things with your code – and I completely understand why you did it the way you did – because the example did. Blame the chemist.

I currently have six of the subject sensor stations (Photo of GMI_EC2 attached) deployed and logging data to SD cards. I recently setup two of these stations using PlatformIO to load the DRWI_CitSci.ino code with the AtlasScientificEC.h patched in.
