We installed a Mayfly out at the border of a forest/marsh last week and everything went fine. I tested our loggers in our University’s greenhouse and it seemed like our batteries/solar panels were working just well. However, in the field, one of our loggers pretty much ran out of juice within the span of like an hour. We ended up replacing it with…[Read more]

Here are the results with the blue spirulina that has a known phycocyanin concentration (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08XC7KSRP?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title). PPB readings are still off.
Campbell ClariVUE10 reporting intervals seems to be resolved when I went back to a library I downloaded back in Nov 2024 but kept the SRC-sensors folder from…[Read more]

No, LiFePO4 batteries should never be used with a Mayfly board because the onboard charging circuitry is only designed to work with 3.7v Lithium Ion packs. There’s a summary of important battery information and options here: https://www.envirodiy.org/battery-options-mayfly/

Has anyone tried hooking up Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries to the mayfly boards? I am wondering if the built in charge controller would be compatible with this chemistry.
Any other recommendations for batteries would be greatly appreciated as well!

Hey Ryan,
A UCB student ran research group I founded called the Strawberry Creek Monitoring Group will be transitioning to a decentralized LoRaWan network called helium networks using mayfly boards. They will be starting work on this in the next few months. We can keep you up to date on our progress if you like! Also, we already built a alarm…[Read more] -

We have been testing out the Turner C-FLUOR (PC) PHYCOCYANIN sensor and getting mixed results where we are not sure if it is the sensor, sketch, or something else.
When measuring pure di water we are getting readings of around 5 – 6 ppb in both an opaque jar and open jar with the sensor in a shade cap.
We bought blue spirulina (…[Read more]

Hello Shannon,
I am with Digi International – I wanted to check in to see if you were able to get our new XBee modules working on the Mayfly. If you need more information, I can connect you with Tech Support or an FAE who can provide any information you need.
We’re excited to see this XBee application, and we appreciate you working with our products!

Hi, I’m curious if there are any plans to replace the data cable from sensor to the MayFly with LoRa wireless technology or to make it an option? LoRa (Long Range) is a wireless communication technology, specifically a physical (PHY) layer protocol, designed for long-range, low-power, and low-data-rate communications, primarily used in Internet of…[Read more]

I haven’t seen any other templates besides the one you linked. I never use them myself, I just lay them out in whatever pattern is the easiest, based on the sizes of the cable glands. I prefer to stagger them as shown in this photo from the kit’s shop page, since that makes it easier to get your hand around the end part to tighten them. I us…[Read more]

Can someone direct me to a 4 hole drilling template if it exist?
I found this: https://github.com/EnviroDIY/EnviroDIY_Mayfly_Logger/blob/master/hardware/1120Pelican_enviroDIY_5.pdf
I thought I found and bookmarked a 3 hole version before, but now I can’t seem to locate it.
Thank You

Are you referring to an EnviroDIY Monitoring Station kit which contains a Mayfly Data Logger, or is your station based on some other type of controller? And are talking about limiting the amount of current your monitoring kit could draw from a power source, or are you talking about limiting the output current of the kit in regards to the load…[Read more]

We are looking at adding an external circuit breaker to protect a monitoring kit. We are configuring a monitoring kit to be a mobile or portable unit, that can be carried aboard a ship/boat of opportunity. Often in the field on a boat or in some weather, equipment gets wet.
What level of current should an external breaker be rated to prevent…[Read more]

A few of the folders in “ModularSensors_Dependencies_v.0.35.0.zip” are named with blank spaces or with longer names, if you go into any of the folders with spaces, copy the name of the .h file and rename the folder to that name, it works.
