From Dave Funk, entomologist at the Stroud Center (https://stroudcenter.org/people/funk/): “I’d be very surprised if there were any among the EPT’s–no structures I am aware of that might suggest either a source or sensor. It seems to me the most likely place to find sound communication in aquatic insects would be among (non-benthic) adult…[Read more]

The LTEbee adapter board you linked above was a special product we developed in 2019 for interfacing the Digi-brand LTE cellular boards with the Mayfly Logger. The Digi board have been nearly impossible to buy since late 2020 because of production/shortage issues with the manufacturer and aren’t expected to be back in stock anywhere until l…[Read more]

I have the serial number 20347 purchased in 2020. (v1.0)
would the LTE Bee work with v1.0? EnviroDIY LTE Bee (Pack of 5)

From the manual they are out of stock. Is there another link to order the right thing at another location, or am I in a waiting game until it comes back…[Read more]

Just wondering if anybody has leads on what sounds Benthic macroinvertebrates might make – the sound scape in streams?
I got a MachineLearning article this morning that referenced this story
I found this as well…[Read more]

I’ll second Neil, and say that Keller sensor are very high quality and work really well with Mayfly RS485 integrations. I’ve helped deploy many AccuLevel sensors.
There’s a small chance that Keller 36XiW-CTD uses the same Modbus map as the Acculevel, but I think it is unlikely. You’ll need to get the Modbus documentation from Keller for that. I…[Read more]

Email me your sketch and I’ll load it to a v0. 5b board and see if I can recreate your issue.

I assume that the NeoSWSerial function is needed. to talk to the sim7080 and that is why I am not getting any response from the modem

Jim Moore replied to the topic Errors compiling DRWI_SIM7080LTE.ino code in the forum Mayfly Data Logger 2 years, 9 months ago
The new sim7080 is plugged directly into the Mayfly 0.5b.

Are you using the new sim7080 directly plugged in to the Mayfly, or are you still using the LTEbee adapter board from your old Digi hardware in between the sim7080 and the Mayfly?

Hi,
I am attempting to interface my Yosemitech Y4000 with a mayfly, using an rs485-TTL adapter, but I am having no luck. I have tested the adapter with another RS-485 device and successfully transmitted and received data. Because of this I wanted to see if there was any option to interface the Y4000 directly with a PC, that way I can check…[Read more]

@srgdamiano @hicks
Current status of my problem; I am using the 0.5 Mayfly board and have changed to appropite line from 18 to -1 and I get compile errors related to NeosWSerial.ccp. I have updated all my libraries and still get the same error.
If I comment out the lib entry for NeoSWSerial the sketch compiles but when loaded the console…[Read more]

We haven’t used that sensor at Stroud, but after looking at the spec sheet, I don’t see why it wouldn’t work with one of our newer Mayfly models that generates 12v. You’ll need a Modbus interface if you want to use that protocol, so either building your own or using the one we’ll be releasing soon. For SDI-12, it should work directly connected t…[Read more]

I am looking for some feedback from the EnviroDIY community on a new sensor to try with the Mayfly — Keller – Series 36XiW-CTD (Conductivity, Temperature, Depth). I have attached the spec sheet from Keller.

@zeke-holloman communications – peer2peer – is a deep subject.

Shannon Hicks replied to the topic Mayfly I2C Address in the forum Mayfly Data Logger 2 years, 9 months ago
The Mayfly board is not a I2C slave device so it does not have an I2C address. The easiest way to transfer data between Mayfly boards would be to use UART like serial or NewSoftSerial.

Hi there! Does the Mayfly have an I2C address associated with it? I’m trying to use Wire.h to transmit data between two Mayflys. If it does, where could I find it, for both the 0.5b and the 1.0. Thank you!

@shicks just wondering what the expected standard charge is for the Mayfly 1.0
I’m seeing via a USB Meter that with a USB-C charger that delivers 5.0V (and 2A capable) with a 4.4A LiIon battery at 3.8V that it is only charged 0.13-0.2A. Previously Mayfly 0.5 this was the expected 0.5A
