If your only interested in a month of data and not concerned about a long-term deployment, I would just put the Mayfly/hardware/batteries in a nice IP 67 or 68 enclosure with a voltaic solar panel and strap it to a something like a spare buoy. The picture attached isn’t pretty but would probably work for long-term deployment in small inland lakes.

Thanks for your input Neil and Cal. I pulled my station from the field where the battery was not recharging so I could do some testing. I’ll report back with my testing results to see if anyone has any advice. I would still be interested in the 12 v battery option if anyone out there uses one successfully with their Mayfly board v 0.5.

We’ll be making an announcement next week about the release of the RS485 board, along with updates to the latest Mayfly design which includes good news about the 12v boost option. We’ll also be making some updates to the website to make it much easier for people to see the when and where all of our products are in stock, release dates,…[Read more]

@shicks just wondering if the RS485 schematic is likely to be published, and of course if the parts are likely to be available. Many thanks.

I did a quick search on “HydroShare” and only came up with one forum post, so I thought I would ask the question …
How do I connect MMW to HydroShare?
In MMW, under “My Account” there is a button to “Connect” to HyrdroShare. I had tried this before, some time ago, but I just end up with “You are being redirected to hydroshare.org” followed by…[Read more]

Okay, after a good night’s sleep I decided to tackle this again and I think I have fixed it. I simply added a line before the internet connection loop:
modem.modemWake();
It’s now logging to MMW. Please let me know if this is fundamentally wrong or will cause problems in the future.

Hi All. We have a couple sites where we we updated the units and order of the parameters. To do this, we had to create new MMW sites. I’m just getting around to deleting the old MMW sites and I’m getting a server error when doing so. Thanks for any help you can provide.

@damiano – I am attempting to upgrade my LEC stations to the new 4G s
Simcom boards and I am getting compile errors relating to “NeoSWSerial.cpp”. I attached a screen shot of the error message. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

Ok. Got it running with a student I’m working with (over zoom)
python -m serial.tools.list_ports -v
shows the ports and then substitute for “FTDI”
“Silicon Labs”

Hi @aufdenkampe,
I have followed your advice and I think this is working, i.e., I am no longer having problems with -9999 values for the CTD.
However, the complex loop code is preventing publication of data to MMW. I’m sure this is something simple, but I can’t seem to figure it out.
I have tracked the issue to the line where the code checks…[Read more]
