The website reports on the last time data was received by the website via the cell modem. So you’ll have data on the card that’s not on the website. And there are 2 date/time columns in that data file, one is local time (standard) and one is UTC time. They are 5 hours off if you’re in the eastern time zone. So data points in the evening bef…[Read more]

Thanks, I turned the solar panel hoping to get more sunlight.
I’m sorry for the duplication however I did several searches prior to posting but apparently I didn’t include the key words, nothing came up. I didn’t suspect the battery because of the issue with the dates changing from 9/26 to 9/24 on the display on the website as the last data dump…[Read more]

Your battery is too low. This is the same issue that was asked about last week: https://www.envirodiy.org/topic/battery-failing-in-the-middle-of-the-night/
Anytime your battery voltage drops below 3.55v, the logger won’t transmit, in order to save battery power and conserve enough energy to keep writing the data to the memory card even though i…[Read more]

I’ve been getting sporadic data recording on my MMW site. I’ve noticed several discrepancies in the data. For example I looked first thing this morning and the last displayed/recorded data was yesterday (9/26). I just refreshed the page and the last displayed data has changed to 9/24. Another thing I noticed is that on one line of data there are…[Read more]

Also seems to me the core issue is you lost charging /solar about the end of May.
Possibly the panels got over grown, or shaded out.
I have a separate LiIon charger ~ https://www.adafruit.com/product/1905 – but a spare mayfly also works.

Why are the altitude/pressure data from my BME280 so wild? I got a range of -138 to 740 meters. It was stationary during this time. No actual change in altitude.

The data looks to me like the battery voltage dropped in July, someone replaced it with a charged battery on 8/4 and data was continuous, but then on 8/25 someone replaced the battery with the almost-dead one from earlier in the month. And if you’re using the sample LTE logging sketch like what’s found here:…[Read more]

Hello,
I’ve been having a problem with one of my stations where the battery will fail for a couple of hours sometimes. I can’t determine if there is a pattern, for example its been cloudy for a few days but that didn’t have any effect on the battery lasting through the night yesterday. I have replaced the battery once and will do it again t…[Read more]

Good to hear that the gauges survived, and delivered the data.!!
Many thanks for the refresh on status and (target) date :). Very helpful.

The shipment of new boards and accessories arrived 3 weeks ago. I began testing the products and making the necessary changes to the code and documentation, but then our area was hit by the remnants of Hurricane Ida, several dozen of our stream monitoring stations were located on rivers that saw flood events greater than anything that’s happened…[Read more]

Just wondering any visibility on a timeline for new Mayfly, and what the new goodies are :).
I am looking at recommending it in an SSU Engineering project.
The first projection on availability was early August, just wondering if there is anything that can be shared about the difficulties in them becoming available. I know some of these issues…[Read more]

neilh20 replied to the topic Mayfly not writing to SD card = possibly a libraries issue? in the forum Mayfly Data Logger 3 years, 1 months ago
An idea, equipment failure isolation. (assuming you’ve got the board in a lab location) Possible combinations of the three variable 1) switch uSD and 2) switch Mayfly 3) add separate USB power supply via USB cable. Does the Mayfly always fail writing to the uSD, even with known working uSD. That could be that the uSD slot has a failure (eff…[Read more]

That’s a good thought – the only thing is that we have the identical setup nearby that we installed in November with the exact same battery and solar panel, and those function with no problem. We don’t believe there is a difference in the physical infrastructure that we can tell – so the only difference could be what libraries we installed?

If they wrote to the SD card in the lab but not the field could it be a power supply issue?

Dear Mayfly community,
Recently we’ve expanded our terrestrial Mayfly network to include 7 new stations in a research forest in Vermont. We installed 2 stations in the fall and data was logged just fine.
We set everything up identically, using the same code and the same libraries. Set the RTC, addressed all the sensors. No problem. Checked the…[Read more]

Rick Vogel replied to the topic Using Xbee Cellular Modem with ThingSpeak in the forum Mayfly Data Logger 3 years, 1 months ago
That is the version of XBee I use as well. They are very short supply. I only have some cause we bought a large supply of them bout a year ago. The dev board I use with mine to upgrade the cellular firmware and normal XCTU operations is the XBIB-CU-TH. Digi-Key has 200+ of those.
