I download data every couple of months, or as needed. It’s a pain, and I inevitably have overlap of data to clean up.
My current plan allows for 3 month’s data storage (Maker plan), but I notice on the current pricing only 1 month of storage is provided. I’ll get the good news at plan renewal time I’m sure!
I’ll have a look at arduino cloud /…[Read more]

Hey thanks for the reference. I’ve also been monitoring blynk .
Do you offload the data regularly? – that seems to be the big gotcha is figuring out how often to download data.

Hi Neil
I had a go at arduino cloud about a year ago.
For price/configurability I ended up switching to Blynk. I’ve had 5 arduino MKR GSM boards function flawlessly for the past year. I think Blynk is aimed at developers, but there was enough sample code for me to get the board running .
That said, the current arduino pricing looks good.
I’ve…[Read more]

@w3asa Glad to hear you were able to download your data. The Monitor My Watershed download function may not perform well if the file size is too large. Here are a couple of tips for avoiding download timeouts:
- Don’t collect data at 5-minute intervals for long periods unless you know you need it for a particular parameter and site; 15-minute…

This is rather a good summary of over-the-air updates – https://blog.arduino.cc/2024/06/13/why-do-ota-updates-matter-in-iot
I wonder if anybody is trying the arduino cloud that it uses.? https://cloud.arduino.cc/

Never mind! “download Sensor data” seems to be working now.

“download Sensor data” was very slow to respond (several hours) now it doesn’t seem to work at all. Does anyone know the status of this? Is there another portal to download station data?

That’s a good question, and something that I’m sure a few other people have accidentally done before, me included. Luckily the charger chip and the Mayfly v1.0 and v1.1 board should not be affected by having a solar panel connected with the wires reversed. I just did a test here with a Mayfly v1.0 and a v1.1, where I first connected a panel w…[Read more]

Hey there. We have a station where the black quick connect cable was installed incorrectly and the pos/neg cable from the solar panel were switched. Should I expect this to result in a damaged logger? Will it damage any other components?
Thanks,
Jake

Hi!
I have quite the same projects ! But still wondering wich is the best solutions.
I had good results with MaxBotix products, but they are limited to 15 meters max. So it’s seems a better option for surface water than underground water.
What have you chosen finaly ?Gaspard Demorcy

I know nothing about rosserial. Are you using Hardware Serial with it? Serial or Serial1? Are you using some type of software serial (SoftwareSerial, AltSoftSerial, NeoSWSerial)? Very quickly skimming the rosserial docs and code, it looks like it has some specific boards that are supported and the 1284p in the Mayfly may not be 100%…[Read more]
