No, there is not a built-in voltage divider on the Mayfly to protect either the 1284p’s 10-bit ADC or the auxiliary 16-bit ADS1115 ADC input. The jumpers on the Mayfly that let you select the Switched 3.3 or Switched 5v only change the voltage that’s supplied to the Grove jack’s VCC pin. There’s nothing to protect the Mayfly’s ADC inputs fr…[Read more]

Hi Shannon,
Yes using the Mayfly ver 0.5b. I am using the ADS1115, and reading 50 ADS readings at 50us intervals and storing them in an array. I am then taking the median of the array and multiplying by 3.3 before dividing the whole thing by 17585.0.
I have the Mayfly jumper on the ADC section set to 5v rather than 3.3.

You didn’t state what board you’re using, but if it’s an EnviroDIY Mayfly board or any other board with a processor operating voltage of 3.3v, then you’re not going to be able to read a 5v signal. It’ll max out reading around 3.3v, and you’ll likely damage the ADC input if you run it for very long or exceed the absolute maximum voltage of the…[Read more]

Hi all,
I have been trying to calibrate an 80cm eTape sensor – standard linear resistance to voltage module (https://img1.wsimg.com/blobby/go/6e1bce17-f4fa-40c3-9d89-9bb7445697bb/downloads/0-5V%20Module%20Data%20Sheet.pdf).
Everything seems normal and there is a nice relationship between depth and voltage until I reach 40cm. At that point the…[Read more]

Thanks Robert S. Jim @w3asa your mouse wheel must be broken. And as Robert S points out the x-axis can be scrolled on within the graph itself, just not on the axis or the range at the bottom.

Jim Moore (@w3asa), I wasn’t able to replicate your problem re the mouse scrolling. I was able to expand and shrink the y-axis with my mouse wheel. You can’t do this on the x-axis but I don’t think you’ve ever been able to do this on the x-axis. Possibly your mouse wheel itself isn’t working(?)

I noticed this week that the TSA charts can not be scaled with the mouse scroll button but they can be shifted. Something changed since I was able to scale and move any of the displayed parameters.
I couldn’t find this issue in any other threads so I bring it up here. Perhaps there was a recent update and that feature got broken?

@mbarney the trace looks good for the waking portion. What I see on my system is that it wakes every minute and then sleeps inbetween. So if you have it on a 15minute setting it will do above, then sleep/wake 14times. The current can be read when it goes to sleep.
For the differential case I would think you would have two sets of dividers. BT…[Read more]

@shicks The previous thread about I2C power that I’m aware of was when I learned that the jumper on the I2C grove port needs to remain in the constantly-powered position, otherwise the Wire library crashes, at least with certain sensors, including the Turner.
I *think* my Mayfly is sleeping: All LEDs switch off, if that means anything. If I…[Read more]

Yes, I meant the thread. Sorry. The forum is super helpful! Thanks for your reply. I’ll keep watching Amazon for stock.

The forum is very active, there have been 7 post in just the past 24 hours alone. Do you mean this particular thread? Almost all of our items have been in stock on either Amazon or our new EnviroDIY Shop page for several months now, but we recently sold out of LTEbee adapters on both sites because of a huge rush of large orders a few weeks a…[Read more]

Is this forum still being monitored? I don’t see any recent posts.
I’m interested in building a Mayfly but the LTE Bee Adapter is unavailable on Amazon. Are there still plans to supply these? Thanks.

@mbarney an observation, the power is being turned off on the off board ADS1115, but not for the Turner. The ADS1115 Analog inputs are only specified for Vdd+0.3V. If either of the Turners inputs are above this, then it will feed through to the ADS1115 Vdd Sw5V. Probably won’t account for what your are seeing.
I found a I needed to know when i…[Read more]

If the “Switched 3v3” or “Switched 5v” is turned off, then nothing connected to those pins will be drawing power. But if your Mayfly board is not actually going into deep sleep, then it’s sitting in idle mode instead of actually sleeping, and that’s why it’s drawing 6ma. Wasn’t there some recent threads about how the I2C device was keeping the b…[Read more]

@shicks Thanks for those details. I wonder whether it could be the turbidity sensor, rather than the Mayfly, that’s actually drawing power, but I wouldn’t have thought it could do that while (or if) the Mayfly is sleeping. A bit more about my circuit:
I’m powering the Turner from Mayfly’s switched 3V3. The Turner’s analog output is 0-5V, which…[Read more]

For the code, it makes no difference if it’s a Hydros21 or a CTD-10. The change between them is name-only.
Did you install all of the libraries from either the libraries repository or the ModularSensors release? You need to unzip the libraries into your Arduino user folder. The error you’re getting is saying that the compiler can’t find one of them.

Sara,
I thought I had found the problem but, I was wrong. However, to be honest I don’t know if I have a Decagon CTD-10 or a Meter Group Hydros 21. My invoice calls out a “CTD-10Hydros 21”. The Quick Start Guide calls out a Decagon CTD-10 but I thought I ordered a Meter Group Hydros 21. I have no idea if this even makes a difference.
