Welcome, Tom! Citizen science is a really exciting way to engage students. Did you know that EnviroDIY is part of the WikiWatershed toolkit? You might find additional tools there that you can use with your students: https://wikiwatershed.org/

Hi Marion. If you haven’t received an answer for this yet, you could repost it in the Mayfly forum (http://envirodiy.org/forum/dataloggers/mayfly/). It will reach more people that way, as it will go out in the RSS email.

Hi Ben. As a spam prevention measure, we hold the first comment from a newly registered user for moderation, which is why you didn’t see yours right away. I approved it and deleted your duplicate, so you should be good to go.

Hi Marion. I’m glad you’re finding the sketches helpful. There are a series of icons at the top right edge of the code snippet window; the function of each button should appear as a tooltip when you hover over it. Clicking on the fourth one (highlighted in attached image) should copy the entire sketch to your clipboard. Please let me know if these…[Read more]

Seems like quite a challenge looking for Nitrates and Phosphates – possibly using Raman Spectroscopy.
Possibly tickle with a UV laser for
NO3/Nitrate excited by UV 204nm – resonance output 1104nmI wonder if anybody else is thinking about this?
The UV laser seems to be the biggest challange in a small package, the spectroscope could be doable, and of course the package needs to cope with possible biofouling.

Thank you Heather! We are actually playing with that tool in the office right now! It’s a very interesting app that I think our students and teachers are going to really like. Just getting up to speed with the mechanics of it right now.
Great! I suppose you’ve already found the “WikiWatershed Toolkit for Educators” webinar recording on the videos page. 🙂 We’re also excited about the “Model My Watershed: A Tool for Water Resource Management” webinar being presented by US EPA tomorrow. It’s in the middle of the day, so not convenient for teachers, but we hope to be able to link to…[Read more]
