I have a use case where I need to monitor water depth and discharge in an earthen irrigation ditch, and plan to use a Mayfly and MMW to collect and report the data in real-time. I estimate the ditch is approximately 10 feet wide and 5 feet deep. We’ve done a number of Mayfly installations on streams using a CTD sensor, but in this case, we only…[Read more]

Hi Jim,
We noticed that Friday morning as well. Another user has reported the problem on Github, but I have not seen a response yet.

Hi,
I am seeing multiple pins displayed on the map at one location for one of our sites. When I browse sites on MMW and search for ‘Coldwatermorse’, the map zooms to the proper site, but when you click the pin, it expands into 4 or 5 pins. No matter which of those you click, it displays the same site (same Site Code, Site Name, etc.). There…[Read more]

Would it be possible for me to buy the vertical microSD card adapter board that normally ships in the Mayfly Starter Kit? I have 3 Mayfly boards for which I need them.

OK, that makes sense. Thank you!

I have a couple of questions about displaying data on MMW. When viewing a Mayfly site, can the display sequence of its variables be re-ordered, or is that fixed, based on the order in which you define the sensors and measured variables for the site? Second, I assume that if you delete and then re-add a measured variable, a new UUID gets generated.…[Read more]

Sweet – I’ve got it now. Thanks Sara!

I’m unclear on what changing the units of a temperature variable on MMW does for me; it seems to label the data as degrees F, but the values are still in deg C, as it appears that the Decagon CTD-10 (in this case) can only report in deg C. Assuming that is the case, could we get a calculated variable set up on MMW for temperature in deg F? Our…[Read more]

Thanks Sara. I was plotting air temperature from the Maxim DS3231 and wanted to display it in F, but that option is not available that I can see. I hope I didn’t make it sound like I thought anything about the portal was hacky; my use of calculated variables to do a unit conversion was. 🙂

Thank you Sara. I see that the list of calculated variables is curated, so this avenue may not be the best fit for my use case. In particular, what is a non-hacky way for me to display a sensor’s measurements in different units? I’m using the ModularSensors library. Would I need to customize the code for that sensor to do the units conversion?…[Read more]

How do I set up a calculated value to plot to my site at data.envirodiy.org? I’m using the example code here: https://github.com/EnviroDIY/ModularSensors/blob/master/examples/baro_rho_correction/baro_rho_correction.ino to do the calculation, set up the variable, units, etc., but I can’t seem to figure out how to set up the portal to accept the…[Read more]

Neil and Sara, thank you both! Last night, before seeing your posts, I began testing again while in a different location (happens to be much more remote). I switched to Bypass mode last night, and it appears to be working! Now back in my office in the city, it works as well. I’ll attach my logfile as an fyi.
The above sketch displays firmware…[Read more]

I modified line endings and changed the wait time to 30 minutes: modem.connectInternet(1800000L). I then had to leave and left the Mayfly running overnight. Still no data at MMW, but I now see connections being logged on my Hologram dashboard, and a single message that shows data usage:…[Read more]

Hi Sara,
Initially I was testing on USB power only, but will now keep the LiPo plugged in as well, though no success so far with that. (I’m guessing the LiPo is needed to provide adequate current for signal transmission?) I’m testing in my office in an urban area where we have good Verizon and AT&T signals. I did carefully press the antenna’s…[Read more]

I have a Mayfly 0.5b that I am trying to set up with a new XBee3, but have been unable to get an internet connection. The RSSI values are always zero. The serial monitor indicates “Could not connect to internet for clock sync”, I’ve not gotten any data to MMW, and Hologram says that there have been no network connections for the SIM.
I’m working…[Read more]

Hi Shannon, I’ll be helping Jake modify the code for our loggers according to your instructions. I’m wondering whether I should start with the code that was installed on our loggers when they were deployed (assuming you have a copy?) or should we start building again from the example code on GitHub?
Thanks,
