Matt Barney started the topic Voltage divider on multipurpose screw adapter in the forum Mayfly Data Logger 2 years, 10 months ago
I have a question about how to use the voltage divider feature of the EnviroDIY multipurpose screw terminal Grove adapter v1.0.
I have a turbidity sensor that outputs analog 0-5V across 2 lines: Signal+ and Signal Ground. (It has separate lines for supply voltage and supply ground.) Using a voltage divider on a breadboard, with a pair of matched…[Read more]

@aufdenkampe – I’ve confirmed that indeed, all stations are now reporting data as expected.

Thanks @aufdenkampe, that sounds like a great plan. I like the idea of the forwarding log too.
We’ll watch for a change in stations’ status once the proxy is in place.

Interesting – we have 1 site with the new LTEbee, and it also weathered the cutover successfully.
@aufdenkampe, As of now, we’re not seeing any of our Digi stations that are able to upload to the new server as a result of the temporary shutdown of your old server, assuming that that indeed took place yesterday.

We have 1 site that resumed uploading data at 12/8/2021 14:45 ET, with no known intervention.
5 sites are uploading after we restarted them, and 18 sites that have not reported since the cutover to the new server.

We tried the Hologram SIM pause idea on one station, but it had no effect, which isn’t too surprising.
@aufdenkampe, please keep us informed about the timing of the temporary shutdown of the old server. Thanks for your efforts.

Thanks @heather, and @aufdenkampe, that does makes sense, with the symptoms we’re seeing. Good to know that the data are not being lost in the interim.
Shutting down the old server temporarily sounds like a good idea; all of our devices are on a 15-minute sampling period, so 20+ minutes should cause at least one failed message from the device,…[Read more]

Matt Barney started the topic No data for 24 hours in the forum Mayfly Data Logger 2 years, 11 months ago
I’m wondering if anything is known about the widespread (but not universal) pattern of sites without data since about Dec. 7, 2021, 12:55 p.m. (UTC-05:00)?
Note the pale-green pins on the map (‘Data within last 72 hours’). This is affecting the majority of our sites, and many others, as shown in the screenshot attached. This is a bit of a…[Read more]

Just wondering if we could please get a status update on MMW. Most of our sites have now been offline for ~21 hours. My colleague replaced a Mayfly and modem this morning (for a separate issue), and its data began reporting to MMW immediately, but our others are still offline. Any ETA on a fix?
Thanks,

oof… what a day to release onto AWS! 🙂 https://techcrunch.com/2021/12/07/amazon-web-services-went-down-and-took-a-bunch-of-the-internet-with-it/
Nonetheless, happy to hear of this milestone for MMW!

Matt Barney replied to the topic LTEBee on Verizon? in the forum Mayfly Data Logger 2 years, 11 months ago
FWIW, I asked SIMCom about their Verizon certification, and this is their reply:
We are in the process of getting the certification. All testing has been completed and we are just needing to schedule and official drive test with Verizon. After this we expect to have certification shortly after. I am estimating we will have it completed late De…

Ok, that’s very interesting. It sounds like the LTEBee with a Hologram SIM has been using what it sees as the ‘best’ carrier for a given connection. The Digi modems would never do that for us in areas where Verizon was the only viable option, so we had to get Verizon-branded SIMs for those cases.

Hmm, so maybe no one has tried Verizon with the new modem yet. SIMCom claims that chip supports Verizon, but (suspiciously?) they don’t have a Verizon Certification document available for download, as they do for other carriers. And they list all their supposedly supported carriers under a heading labeled “Certifications(plan)”, which makes me…[Read more]

Matt Barney started the topic Error on Mayfly schematic? ADS1015 in the forum Mayfly Data Logger 3 years ago
FYI, I noticed that the v1 schematic, in the Auxiliary ADC section, labels the chip ADS1015 12-bit; elsewhere the specs indicate that it’s a 16-bit ADS1115.

Wondering whether anyone’s used the new LTEBee modem with a Verizon SIM. If so, what APN did you use?
Thanks,

Matt Barney replied to the topic USB to UART Mayfly, Serial Ports Not Connecting in the forum Mayfly Data Logger 3 years ago
Got it – thanks! I had the USB DIP switch off. I misinterpreted the specs sheet about the function of the switch, thinking it only disabled the LED, not the port. Is there a power penalty if I leave the USB switch on for a field deployment? The spec suggests that there is, but the USB LED won’t be lit in that case.

When I connected my first v1 Mayfly last week, my laptop (Win10) didn’t recognize it. I manually installed the VCP drivers for CP210x from SiLabs, and then it worked. Uploaded code (using PlatformIO) to the board, and all was well. I set it aside for the weekend, and today I can’t get Windows to recognize the Mayfly. Windows Device Manager’s list…[Read more]

Is there a clock sync program available, similar to PCSync.exe, for the v1.0 Mayfly? PCSync just reports ‘No FTDI device found’ on the new boards. I’ve installed the SiLabs driver for the new VCP chip and am able to load sketches onto my board.

I have a couple of related questions as we prepare to integrate v1.0 boards into our new deployments, while also keeping our existing 0.5b installations operating for as long as possible.
- Will Hologram SIMs work with the new EnviroDIY LTE Bee modem? I recall seeing a discussion that it was under test, but can’t seem to find that now.
