Shannon Hicks replied to the topic Testing TTL-RS485 Adapters in the forum Mayfly Data Logger 3 years, 8 months ago
It depends on what kind of pinout is on the adapter board. I’m not familiar with them since I don’t use them, but you could probably make a test jig with pogo pins, or if the board have plated-through holes you can simply use male header pins and just hold the board at a bit of an angle to make contact.

Shannon Hicks replied to the topic HYDROS 21 no longer vented… any idea when this changed? in the forum Environmental Sensors 3 years, 8 months ago
Yes, I’ve read the website, and talked with the Meter Group engineers on many occasions. I think the wording on the simplified product brochure just isn’t written clearly. If you read the detailed Integrator’s Guide, you’ll see that it says this:
Differential pressure measurement referenced to atmospheric pressure so no external pressure s…[Read more]

Sounds like a manufacturing error to me. I’d suggest contacting Meter and tell them about it because I’ve never seen an unvented CTD from them and there’s no conceivable way it would work correctly without one.

Yes, the pressure transducer on the Gen 2 sensors seems to be temperature compensated just like it was on the Gen 1 sensor. They also use the temperature sensor for calculating the specific conductivity readings. I wasn’t going to mention that I have one since they sent it to me ahead of release for testing so we could make sure our Modular S…[Read more]

Matt, they haven’t begun selling the Generation 2 CTD sensor yet, so what you have is a Gen 1 sensor with the new cable on it. And we always order our sensors without the metal strain relief since we always end up cutting them off anyway, so you can specify that when you place your order.

Are you using a sensor with bare wires at the end, or with the molded stereo plug? Is it a red cable or a black cable? We’ve bought hundreds of CTD-10 and now the Hydros 21 sensors (only the name changed when the company changed from Decagon to Meter, and there was no design change). Every one we’ve ever used has a small Gore-Tex sleeve ab…[Read more]

Shannon Hicks replied to the topic MMW not receiving data in the forum Monitor My Watershed 3 years, 8 months ago
Some features of MMW are still down due to some complex server issues. They’re still working on it but haven’t given a specific date when everything might return to normal.

The database still has some issues with sparkline plots and a few other things. The team is still working on it but don’t have an estimate on when things will be back to 100% functional again.

Shannon Hicks replied to the topic Hydros-21 Depth Temp Compensation in the forum Environmental Sensors 3 years, 8 months ago
We just got the sensor and haven’t done any comparison tests alongside the Gen 1 sensor to see if there’s a difference, so I can’t comment yet on anything data-wise, we just know that there’s not a communication issue with the Mayfly now that we’ve adjusted the timing of the commands in our library.

Shannon Hicks replied to the topic Hydros-21 Depth Temp Compensation in the forum Environmental Sensors 3 years, 8 months ago
We recently received a Gen 2 Hyrdos 21 CTD sensor from Meter Group and have confirmed that it works just fine with the Mayfly Data Logger, and using our Modular Sensors library, with just a very small adjustment made to the library. We’re in the process of updating that now, so you should be good to order them and use them when they arrive.

Shannon Hicks replied to the topic No site markers on MMW ? in the forum Monitor My Watershed 3 years, 8 months ago
Monitor My Watershed is still down and not showing stations on the main page when you click “Browse Sites”. The data team is still working on repairing the site. But don’t worry, data is still being collected and all of it is available if you know the site code for the station you’re interested in. For users that have their own sites or are f…[Read more]

Yes, it’s been down most of the day. The MMW data team is working on it.

Shannon Hicks replied to the topic MayFly Kit/Bee Adapter availability in the forum Mayfly Data Logger 3 years, 8 months ago
The new LTEbee adapter boards were finally delivered yesterday, I listed them in stock on the Shop page this morning. Most of the people who have been looking to purchase them have already placed their orders. But for anyone else interested in them, they are back in stock. I also added the protoshields to the EnviroDIY shop, they were pr…[Read more]

Shannon Hicks replied to the topic Com Ports not connecting to logger in the forum Mayfly Data Logger 3 years, 8 months ago
If the Mayfly board still works when powered from a battery, then there’s a couple of possibilities of why the computer might not see it. One is that the main power slide switch is defective, since that switch does 2 things – one pole is to provide power to the regulator that powers the whole board, the other pole is to provide power to the FTDI…[Read more]

The LTEbee adapters have been stuck in shipping transit for over 2 weeks, and then there were customs processing delays. They been scheduled for delivery for the past few days but then get rescheduled. Supposedly they’ll be delivered tomorrow (Monday) and I’ll list them as available in the EnviroDIY shop page in 5-packs as soon as they a…[Read more]

I’m still finalizing testing of a circuit for this, parts are on order but due to supply and shipping delays, I don’t have them yet. Hopefully I’ll have something to report next week.

Yes, you can buy the small case separately, in ABS plastic either with a clear lid or an opaque lid: search the internet for RP1095 or RP1095C and you’ll find multiple vendors.
There’s also a new version with mounting flange feet if you’re planning to mount the case somewhere where having the flange would be helpful. Those are model RP1095BF a…[Read more]

The Arduino IDE 2.0 is still a beta release and is so new that we haven’t done extensive testing to make sure all our EnviroDIY-related instructions, libraries, and sketches work perfectly. So I would recommend you use the regular release of version 1.8.13 (available here: https://www.arduino.cc/en/software) instead of the beta version.

Shannon Hicks replied to the topic SDI-12 level shifting in the forum Environmental Sensors 3 years, 9 months ago
We’ve encountered a few SDI12 sensors that are more picky about the data line voltage being actually 5v instead of 3.3v, and when sensor excitation line needs 9v or 12v, then we definitely need something between the Mayfly and the sensor. I’ve hand-built a bunch of little adapter boards (see attached photo) for those sensors, using a BSS138,…[Read more]

Are you following the instructions from the top of this page to add the Mayfly board to your IDE: https://www.envirodiy.org/mayfly/software/
You should be able to copy-and-past the URL of the json file into the appropriate place in the IDE Preference window and then the IDE will fetch the file and load it properly. We haven’t made any changes t…[Read more]
