Hi, I’m curious if there are any plans to replace the data cable from sensor to the MayFly with LoRa wireless technology or to make it an option? LoRa (Long Range) is a wireless communication technology, specifically a physical (PHY) layer protocol, designed for long-range, low-power, and low-data-rate communications, primarily used in Internet of Things (IoT) applications. So it seems like it could be a great fit. We have had issues with flooding near the Mayfly, so was wondering if we could anchor the sensor and have data sent through LoRa at least we could avoid losing both the sensor and the Mayfly logger in a flood or spring surge event.

          Hey Ryan,
A UCB student ran research group I founded called the Strawberry Creek Monitoring Group will be transitioning to a decentralized LoRaWan network called helium networks using mayfly boards. They will be starting work on this in the next few months. We can keep you up to date on our progress if you like! Also, we already built a alarm system webapp compatible with all sensors on Monitor My Watershed. If you are interested in checking that out feel free to reach out.
